Adult Developmental Vocational Program (ADVP)
An Adult Developmental Vocational Program (ADVP) is a day/night service which provides organized activities for individuals with mental retardation or other developmental disabilities, or to individuals with physical disabilities, to prepare the individual to live and work as independently as possible. The activities and services of ADVP are designed to adhere to the principles of normalization and community integration.
This program of services provides a closely supervised opportunity for individuals with lower functioning abilities to develop socialization and vocational skills. Many of the individuals enrolled in this program are able to progress into competitive employment through the Supported Employment Program provided by our VR Department. Individuals who are placed in the community through Supported Employment will continue to receive support and guidance from the Employment Specialist assigned to them. This enables the individual the opportunity to remain active, productive and competitively employed.
